The Burkinabè community in New York is rallying for the second phase of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JNEPPC). This phase was launched on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the Consulate General of Burkina Faso in New York, in the presence of representatives from the Burkinabè community.
The High Council of Burkinabè in New York (HCBE-NY) was represented at the ceremony by Mr. W. Noël Firmin Yaméogo, rapporteur for the Basic Council, accompanied by several members of that Council.
On this occasion, a message from the President of Burkina Faso was read, centered on the theme “Produce Burkinabè, Consume Burkinabè.” In particular, it calls for strengthening local production and processing, prioritizing the consumption of Burkinabè products, and consolidating the diaspora’s contribution to national development.
Several Initiatives Planned
As part of this second phase of the JNEPPC, several initiatives have been announced within the Burkinabè community in New York. These include collecting donations for internally displaced persons (IDPs), continuing contributions to the Patriotic Support Fund and Faso Mêbo, and raising awareness among compatriots about joining the APEC.
Visits to fellow citizens are also among the planned activities, as part of an effort to foster closer ties and solidarity within the community.
Through this mobilization, the HCBE-NY intends to reaffirm its commitment alongside consular authorities and contribute, from within the diaspora, to initiatives in support of the nation.
This participation reflects the Basic Council’s desire to promote a Burkinabè diaspora that is engaged, united, and an active participant in the development of Burkina Faso, in accordance with the spirit of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation.
