Meeting with the President of Burkina Faso: The U15 Girls’ “Étalons” Team Honored After Winning Silver

Ouagadougou, October 5, 2026.

The President of Burkina Faso, Comrade Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, received the U15 girls’ national team—runners-up in the U15 African School Cup, held last April in Zimbabwe—in an audience on Monday, October 5.

Accompanied by the Minister of Sports, Youth, and Employment, Comrade Annick PIKBOUGOUM/ZINGUÉ OUATTARA, and the president of the Burkinabé Football Federation (FBF), Comrade Oumarou SAWADOGO, the young ambassadors of Burkinabé soccer came to present to the Head of State the trophy and medals they won following a remarkable run, which culminated in a final against Ghana.

Praising the young players’ performance, the President of Burkina Faso congratulated them on their commitment and determination.

“Congratulations on the fight you put up,” said Comrade Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, paying tribute to the patriotism, fighting spirit, and determination of the U15 girls’ national team.

The Head of State also noted the difficult conditions under which the team prepared for this competition.

“I know you did not have all the optimal conditions to prepare for this competition. Yet, you fought with tenacity and joy, honorably representing the flag of Burkina Faso,” he emphasized.

Aware of the structural difficulties affecting the development of Burkinabè soccer, the President of Burkina Faso acknowledged the need to provide strong solutions to the various challenges plaguing the sport. To that end, he announced that measures would be taken in the coming days to rectify the situation and create better conditions for the growth of national soccer.

Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ also urged the young female athletes to pay special attention to their studies while pursuing their passion for soccer with discipline and determination.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Sports and the national team captain, Comrade Oumou Aïssata BELEM, expressed their deep gratitude to the Head of State for his support of Burkinabé sports and the advancement of young women.
