Patriotic Immersion: 25 Cultural Leaders Learn About Civics and Civic Engagement

Pabré, August 24, 2026 — Twenty-five cultural figures began a patriotic immersion program on Monday, August 24, at the Pabré Police Academy, designed to strengthen their civic engagement and their understanding of the values associated with serving the nation.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Security and the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, this two-week training program brings together musicians, actors, and cultural journalists.

Through this immersion, participants are encouraged to gain a better understanding of the realities and demands associated with patriotic commitment. The program alternates between theoretical instruction and practical activities focused on civic responsibility, patriotism, state symbols, republican values, and leadership.

The program also includes introductory sessions on first aid and emergency response, physical activities modeled after the training of the Defense and Security Forces, as well as modules dedicated to security in hostile environments and the handling of weapons.

Presiding over the opening ceremony, Police Division Commissioner Émile Kadiogo, Secretary General of the Police Academy, reiterated that defending the nation is a collective responsibility. According to him, cultural actors play a special role in this effort due to their ability to influence behavior and public awareness.

The representative of the Ministry of Culture, Noellie Salouka/Congo, emphasized the importance of this initiative in building the capacity of cultural professionals. In particular, she emphasized the artist’s responsibility, ethics, and professional conduct, both in times of peace and during periods of crisis.

For the organizers, however, the goal is not to turn artists into police officers. Rather, it is to enable them to better understand the values, realities, and demands of serving the nation, so that they can then reflect these in their works and messages.

In a national context marked by challenges related to social cohesion, resilience, and civic engagement, this immersive program aims to make culture an additional tool for raising awareness and fostering patriotic commitment.
